Featherweight (126 pounds) and Cuban Olympian Luis Franco of Miami scored a tough, 10-round, split-decision victory over hard-hitting, southpaw veteran, Leonilo Miranda of Mexico to remain undefeated in Friday night's Showtime televised bout at the Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, Calif.
The 29-year-old Franco rose to 9-0, with five knockouts in what was his most difficult test against the 28-year-old Miranda (32-3, 30 KOs).
Judges Steve Morrow and Ralph McKnight had it for Franco by the respective scores of 96-94, and, 97-93, while Ray Balewicz scored it for Miranda, 96-94.
